The procedure

I will confirm that you are happy to go ahead with treatment. We will complete some paperwork in your treatment record.

First of all, the area of skin to be treated is cleaned. The areas to be injected are marked out and photos taken directly before the injections are given. These photos make up your treatment record and help with future treatment planning.

The filler has a consistency similar to gel, and because of this can cause some mild discomfort during injection, which can be reduced with the use of anaesthetic cream before injecting, or even dental blocks to completely numb the area. Small amounts of the filler are injected in straight lines,or following other pattern. This will give immediate visible differences by volumizing the skin, but it may initially feel slightly hard or lumpy.

Longer term, the gel draws water to the area, causing the skin to look more hydrated and increasing the softened appearance of the lines. Effects of fillers can last up to 6-12 months, after which time it is gradually broken down by the body.

A review appointment will be booked for 2-3 weeks after the treatment to monitor progress.
